We were proud to be an official partner and sports nutrition sponsor of 99LAPS, one of the most demanding endurance formats of the year.
The location remained secret until shortly before the start: Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen. Industrial, iconic and an extraordinary stage for an event that demands everything from athletes, both physically and mentally.
The rules were simple and uncompromising: every 15 minutes, a new lap started on a 1.2-kilometer course. With each round, the last-placed athlete was eliminated. Live timing and a real-time leaderboard made every decision visible to everyone.
After 99 eliminations, exactly one athlete remained: Norman Junker. He completed a total of 118.8 kilometers in 24 hours and 45 minutes. The field included not only strong endurance athletes and well-known faces from the scene, but also several ESN athletes.
